“The Primary Years Programme (PYP) focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside.”
A Journey of Curiosity and Growth: The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP)
At our Primary School, learning is more than lessons-it’s an educational journey of discovery. Nestled on our beautiful campus, surrounded by inspiring spaces that spark curiosity, children from Nursery to PYP6 (ages 2.5-12) embark on an International Baccalaureate (IB) learning adventure that nurtures the whole child-academically, socially, and emotionally.
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is at the heart of this experience. Our students are encouraged to be inquirers, asking questions, exploring ideas, and making connections between the classroom and the world around them. Through six globally significant themes, children investigate knowledge across subjects such as language, mathematics, science, social studies, and the arts, all while developing the skills, attitudes, and confidence to thrive as lifelong learners.
The Five Essential Elements of the IB PYP Curriculum
Our IB Primary Years Programme is guided by five essential elements that foster holistic development:
– Knowledge: Learning meaningful content across all subject areas.
– Concepts: Exploring big ideas that inspire curiosity and deep thinking.
– Skills: Developing thinking, communication, social, self-management, and research skills.
– Attitudes: Cultivating values such as empathy, respect, and resilience.
– Action: Encouraging students to apply their learning to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
Assessment in the IB PYP
Assessment is seamlessly integrated into the PYP curriculum, helping teachers understand each child’s progress while supporting growth. From understanding prior knowledge, to guiding daily learning, and celebrating achievements, assessment in the PYP nurtures both confidence and capability.
PYP6 Exhibition: A Culminating IB Project
A highlight of the Primary Years Programme is the PYP6 Exhibition. This culminating, collaborative inquiry project showcases everything students have learned throughout the PYP. It’s a moment of pride, creativity, and reflection, shared with the entire school community. The Exhibition also prepares students for the Middle Years Programme (MYP), marking an important milestone in their IB journey.
At our school, the IB PYP is more than a curriculum-it’s an invitation for every child to explore, imagine, and grow in a joyful, inspiring environment.
