The 19th August found the HBIS Science department bursting with pride as 17 of our budding young scientists walked to the podium to receive their well-deserved medals during the prize giving of the ESKOM Science Expo 2018.
Twenty three students were chosen to represent the school at this prestigious event and they all did us proud with well over half of the students receiving awards for their hard work and excellent science. The following students were awarded medals:

• Natasha Buissinne and Jordan Murray
It must be added that Natasha and Jordan are our youngest gold medal winners to date. What a fantastic achievement! In addition to their gold medal they also received a special award from Kirstenbosch Gardens.
This was a great Science Expo and we appreciate the students giving up their weekend to come to UCT. The number of junior medal winners bodes well for the future. It was wonderful to see how well our IBDP students did. Many judges were impressed as to the high standard and complexity of their projects.
