From the Principal’s Desk – 14 June, 2018
Dear Parents,
In our modern age where the drive for efficiency, improved technology and attempts to make life easier, have become the norm it is important to remember that nothing can ever replace “good old basics”.
As we break for the winter vacation and students will spend the next couple of weeks either at home or away with their parents, I would like to encourage all parents to enjoy this time with their children. This is a wonderful opportunity to create quality moments as a family. No new gadget or “substitute parent” can replace the benefits of quality time as a family, something which in this day and age should be fiercely guarded and protected.
The upcoming break is a wonderful time to try something new with your child/ren. Go for a hike as a family, enjoy a movie together, or simply just engage in good old fashioned conversation around the dinner table – especially with our teenagers and younger adults. We often forget that although our children are teenagers and on the verge of adulthood, they are also still children. As much as they may protest against spending time with their parents, we have seen time and time again, that they do really crave quality time with their folks. Nothing can or should replace this.
So it is in this vein that I wish all our HBIS families and staff a wonderful break – I hope that you all get to spend quality time with your loved ones and simply just enjoy each other’s company.
Be safe if you are travelling and I look forward to seeing you all return in Term 3.
Kind regards,
Grant Ruskovich
