From the Principal’s Desk – 22 November, 2018
Dear Parents,
The annual PYP 6 Exhibition was held last night and once again it was a huge success. Each year you think that it just cannot get better and yet the standard and levels of interactions are phenomenal. I am blown away by the students’ self-confidence, their passion for their chosen topics and their execution of the final product. One can be forgiven for forgetting that these are 11 year old students.
The Exhibition is the final exit point from the IB PYP programme and year in and year out we see how the fundamentals learnt during these years are crucial for future success in the High School. It has always been an interesting fact that each year our top IB Diploma graduate also happens to be a student that went through the PYP at our school. And as someone who sees the “bigger picture” from where our little students start in HBIS to where they end and graduate from our school, I can see the many benefits of an IB education from PYP through the MYP and culminating in the DP.
My sincere thanks to Mrs. Henry and Mrs. Trollip for steering our PYP 6 class through the rigorous exhibition from start to finish and a special word of thanks must go to the various staff (in both the Primary and High) who stepped up to act as mentors to each of the various exhibition groups – the students most definitely enjoyed that experience.
And finally to our PYP 6 students – congratulations on a job well done. Thank you for being open minded and ready to take huge risks as you navigated through the exhibition process. I know you have all learnt so much from this experience and I sincerely hope that you will not only have many wonderful memories from this experience but also are able to make use of the various new skills you have learnt going forward.
Kind regards,
Grant Ruskovich
