From the Vice Principals’ Desks – The Arts
Dear Parents,
The importance of the arts cannot be underplayed. The skills developed during the preparation process and then the courage shown in the final exhibition or performance are skills that cannot be researched or studied, but will last a life time. At HBIS we believe the Arts play a fundamental role in the development of every child.
The last few remaining weeks in this term we will see a culmination and a celebration of much hard work and dedication in the Arts. Tonight the DP 2 Artists will be exhibiting their best Art Works, which is the climax of two years’ worth of work on their artistic journey. It has always been our dream for students to exhibit their work in a gallery to truly showcase their talents and this year that dream is realised, as our students’ will be exhibiting their work at the Artist’s Proof Studio as part of the First Thursday Event. On Tuesday we continue our celebration of Visual Art with our annual Middle Years Art Exhibition in the School Library.
Following this we can look forward to the stage productions Olivia, for the Senior Primary, and Annie, for the High School. Participating in such a production requires dedication, discipline and commitment as well as a little bit of talent! We look forward to the final shows, which we are sure will be sell-out events!
To our artists, performers, directors and instructors – break a leg!
Kind regards,
Mrs Gous & Mrs Baxter
